LifeSkills, Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program

Heather A. Hickok, LCSW-C - Program Manager

Episodes of behavioral disorders may delay or interrupt a person's capacity to manage their daily responsibilities and hinder their ability to work, to learn and to get along with others. LifeSkills' services are designed to teach or restore skills necessary for recovery from mental illness.

Therapy uses medication and counseling to control or abate symptoms of mental illness. Psychiatric Rehabilitation is action oriented and focuses on "doing". Together therapy and rehabilitation are especially effective.

LifeSkills offers vocational opportunities, educational planning, recreational activities, health education, residential support, caring and supportive listening. We serve individual and groups wherever the person's needs are best addressed - at home, at schools, in the community, with other providers or at the Mental Health Center offices.

Maryland Medicaid will pay for psychiatric rehabilitation for persons who are eligible and have Medicaid or Medicare.
